Reset User Passwords¶
[Draft — pending review]
Administrators can reset a user's password from the User Management area. This is useful when a user has forgotten their password or is locked out of their account.
How to Reset a User's Password¶
- Go to Settings > General > Users to open the User Management list.
- Find the user whose password you need to reset.
- Click Reset Password.
- A password reset email will be sent to the email address on the user's person record.
Info
The reset email is sent to the email address from the user's person record, not necessarily to their username. If the username is not an email address, or differs from their contact email, the reset will still go to the email stored on their person profile.
Users Can Also Reset Their Own Password¶
- From within Ordinate — logged-in users can change their password via Settings > Change My Password. They will need to enter their current password first.
- From the login page — users who have forgotten their password can click the Forgot password? link on the login page. See Reset a Forgotten Password for the end-user steps.
Warning
Password reset only applies to users with Ordinate credentials login. Users who log in via SSO manage their passwords through their organisation's identity provider.
